3D Sunshine - Inpired by Mexican Folk Art

5th grade students created these fantastic Sun Designs.  We first assembled them using paper plates, bowls, and some paper mache.  When dry, we gave them a few coats of white paint to cover the newspaper.  Next, we used Tempera paint in every color to create the designs.  A layer of clear glossy mod podge added some shine to these works of art!

Second Grade Portrait Collage

Romare Bearden Jazz Collage

Fourth graders created these fantastic Jazz Collage paintings inspired by the artwork of Romare Bearden.  The children each created two watercolor paintings (one with warm colors and one with cool colors).  Using these papers and black sharpie marker, they created a collage including drawings of musical instruments and "energy lines".  This project was a blast for the kids, and the results were great.
